Description

It's not like I'm walking alone into the valley of the shadow of death
Stand beside one another 'cause it ain't over yet
I'd be willing to bet that if we don't back down
You and I will be the ones that are holding the crown in the end

~Frontline, Pillar

Because some fights require divine assistance.

Galaxia, Meta Knight's sword, is one of the most notable weapons in the Kirby series...and yet, one its most overlooked characters. (Long story short...anime!Meta Knight's sword has a mind.) I don't often see Galaxia depicted as an actual character, not just a weapon -- and even less frequently personified -- and I feel that the dynamic between him/her/it and Meta Knight is something I've always wanted to explore. The bond between weapon and wielder.

Come to think of it, Galaxia is essentially a divine being -- the most powerful weapon in the Kirby anime's universe, and a sentient weapon with a mind of its own, confined into the metal of a sword...making it essentially immortal. And for Meta Knight, his ever-present companion. He could lose the war, every soldier around him could die and the only person that remains with him would be Galaxia. An entity beyond death, a sword that is very much living and alive -- yet isn't, all at the same time.

The second bit I wanted to convey through this picture is a headcanon of mine that relates to Galaxia's gender. There's a scene in the original subs where Galaxia has the deep baritone voice of a male. However, in the dub, (whether or not 4kids is a reputable source of canon is debatable), Galaxia sounded like a young female. And my headcanon is that the sword speaks and appears to you in the form that you decide to perceive it. And it's kind of like that in the art itself -- while I was drawing this, I'd purposely made gijinka!Galaxia androgynous -- had more than a few people tell me that Galaxia looked male, and just as many tell me that he(?) appeared female. Galaxia's whatever gender you want him/her to be, and no two warriors can view him/her the same.

Japanese: Galaxia is male.

English: Galaxia is female.

Maybe it can change gender at will?
